Target size: 50 KB
Soft ceiling — we keep quality as high as possible while staying at or under 50KB when possible. Results show Met target or Above target from the real file size.
Output format
PNG input is currently exported as WebP by this compressor so quality controls can shrink the file—not PNG-preserving. Need JPEG instead? PNG to JPG, then compress.

How it works & what to know
Campus LMS uploads, older job portals, and some government profile pictures still enforce a 50KB photo cap. That is slightly more room than 40KB passport rules, but still a “very small file” trade-off—expect softer detail on textured clothing or busy scenes.
Use this page when the instructions say 50KB (not 40KB or 100KB). Hitting a tighter target than required only adds quality loss for no compliance benefit.
Met target means the downloaded file is 50KB or smaller. Above target means the closest usable encode still exceeded 50KB after quality and dimension steps—download that closest file or try a tighter crop / the next larger limit page.
Never treat a soft ceiling as a guaranteed exact size. Portals that reject oversized uploads need the Met target badge before you submit.
For tight 40–50KB caps, crop tightly and prefer JPG for photos before compressing—fewer pixels make the limit easier to hit with less blur.
Photos with large flat areas (skies, walls) compress more easily than busy textures. If you stay Above target, try the next larger target page or a lower-resolution source.

FAQ
Quick answers about privacy, formats, and what this tool can do.
No guarantee. This tool aims for 50KB or under by lowering quality and, when needed, dimensions. Results show Met target or Above target from the real output size—very detailed images may stay Above target with the closest size and a short note.
Smaller targets need stronger compression. Start with 50KB here; if quality looks too soft, try Compress Image to 100KB or resize dimensions first with the Image Resizer.
No. Images are processed on your device—no image files are uploaded to our servers.
JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WebP. Each file can be up to 25 MB, and you can process up to 20 images in one bulk run. PNG input is exported as WebP on multi-format target pages (not PNG-preserving).
If the file is already 50KB or smaller, we still run a light optimization so you get a consistent download—often without changing the look much. The result still shows Met target.
Follow the form. If it says 50KB, stay on this page. If it says 40KB (common for some ID portals), use Compress Image to 40KB instead so you do not fail validation by a few kilobytes.
